Frequently Asked Questions
Why do I need to update my details?
- Your connection details are incomplete or missing.
- If you are using a SIM that is not registered under your name, you need to update it to avoid future issues.
How do I check if my SIM is under my name?
Dial #132# from your phone to see registration details.
Is this a mandatory requirement?
As per the Subscriber SIM Cards Regulations No. 01 of 2019, issued under the Sri Lanka Telecommunications Act, No. 25 of 1991, all mobile connections must be registered under the actual user’s name. Connections with incomplete or incorrect ownership details are to be disconnected as per the TRCSL directive.
Why is it important to have my SIM under my name?
- Security & Privacy – Your SIM is linked to important things like bank accounts, social media, and personal calls. If it’s not in your name, you might face issues accessing these services.
- Legal Protection – Only the registered owner can request support or make changes. If your SIM is under someone else’s name, we won’t be able to assist you.
- Avoid Risks – A SIM not in your name can cause financial or security risks. Updating your details helps keep your number safe.
How long does it take to update my details?
Once you submit your details, we will verify and update them within 3 days. You can check by dialing #132#.
If your update is unsuccessful, we will notify you via SMS with instructions on how to fix it. You can then resubmit the required details.
